2008 WVNano Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)
WVNano SURE is for students who interested in a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics disciplines.
- Selected students will work in a WVNano research lab for 8 weeks during the summer under a WVNano professor and a graduate or post doctoral mentor
- The 8 weeks begins on Monday, June 2 and ends on Friday, July 25. However, if the student and their research professor reach agreement regarding vacation/break, then as long as students are in the labs for 8 weeks after June 4 and before the end of summer, the ending date is flexible.
- If selected, students will be given a $3500 stipend for their 8 weeks of work.
- Students will be registered for a 1-credit hour research class that they will be required to attend once a week for the duration of SURE (June 2 – July 25). WVNano will pay the tuition for this class.
- SURE students will need to find their own place to live in or near Morgantown.
- SURE students will under no circumstances be allowed to have another job while they are doing research under SURE. Only under very rare and exceptional circumstances (with approval from WVNano and their research professors) will students be able to take summer classes (besides the 1 hour SURE course) during their research experience.
- Students will be expected to present their research findings in the form of a poster presentation at the WVNano SURE Research Symposium which will be held in late July.
