| April 23, 2012 | NSF 12-533 | Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) and HBCU Research Infrastructure for Science and Engineering (RISE) | CREST program makes resources available to enhance the research capabilities of minority-serving institutions through the establishment of centers that effectively integrate education and research; promotes the development of new knowledge, enhancements of the research productivity of individual faculty, and an expanded presence of students historically underrepresented in STEM disciplines. HBCU-RISE awards specifically target HBCUs to support the expansion of institutional research capacity as well as an increase in the production of doctoral students, especially those from groups underrepresented in STEM, at those institutions. Letter of intent due: Feb 24. |
| Jun 15, 2012 | NSF 12-012 | CREATIV | CREATIV (Creative Research Awards for Transformative Interdisciplinary Ventures): a pilot grant mechanism under the Integrated NSF Support Promoting Interdisciplinary Research and Education (INSPIRE) initiative, to support bold interdisciplinary projects in all NSF-supported areas of science, engineering, and education research. Goals: create new interdisciplinary opportunities that are not perceived to exist presently, attract high risk/high reward proposals, provide substantial funding, no favored topics. |
| July 16, 2012 | NSF 11-587 | Cyberlearning: Transforming Education Cyberlearning | Through the Cyberlearning: Transforming Education program, NSF seeks to integrate advances in technology with advances in what is known about how people learn to (1) better understand how people learn with technology and how technology can be used productively to help people learn, through individual use and/or through collaborations mediated by technology; (2) better use technology for collecting, analyzing, sharing, and managing data to shed light on learning, promoting learning, and designing learning environments; and (3) design new technologies for these purposes, and advance understanding of how to use those technologies and integrate them into learning environments so that their potential is fulfilled. |
| Aug 14, 2012 | NSF 12-529 | Scholarships in STEM (S-STEM) | This program makes grants to institutions of higher education to support scholarships for academically talented students demonstrating financial need, enabling them to enter the STEM workforce or STEM graduate school following completion of an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate-level degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics disciplines. Grantee institutions are responsible for selecting scholarship recipients, reporting demographic information about student scholars, and managing the S-STEM project at the institution. |
